[This is awkward. She knows that it's her fault that things always end up so awkward between the two of them and that if she wants things to change, she'll have to take the first step.

As a push to herself, she looks back at him, trying not to hide behind her hair or clothes or anything else.]

I apologize. My older sister teased me about you this morning and...I just remembered that.

[ He sister...? Did she have a sister? A sister does feel familiar, so he can't question that, but when he thinks back on it, he remember when they were- But that was while Zompano had taken everyone over. Was she just saying it to say it or was it an emotional thing, or did he just not know something... or did she remember things weird. Anything was possible--

He shouldn't question it though. He runs his hands through his bands and: ] No, no. Don't worry about it. [ Unless she wanted him to ask or- ] Why was she teasin' ya?

[Saori is no blood relative to Hinata, it's true, but she was closer to the older woman than her own sister. Hanabi...is as different from Hinata as the sky from the ground.

When he asks her that, she can't help but smile wider as her face flushes brighter.]

S-She was teasing me about you, Rin-kun.

Oh. [ Man he's more mature than this. He's got to be able to handle this now, even if he doesn't feel totally equipped to do it. Should he get up to help her get the cupcakes? Should he say something special, or perhaps get more serious? Should he touch her somehow? In the end, he itches the back of his head, and tries to just keep holding conversation ] ... Well, I hope she wasn't teasin' you too bad. It's kinda annoying when brothers do it. I dunno about sisters.

N-no, she was not too bad. I-I...She merely asked if we were...dating.

[She turns on her feet, ready to end the embarrassing part of this conversation. Cupcakes are so much better than this.]

[She stops in mid-step and thinks things over quickly before answering.]

Ah, we-we never actually settled that matter, Rin-kun.

[ they didn't in his memory either, but the sole reason he recalls that being the case - well okay no, he pussyfooted around it for a good while, but she also went home before there could be a consensus reached. He grits his teeth briefly before he knocks on wood, so to speak, and... ] I guess 'm a real heel, then...

[ ... ] Why don'cha get the cupcakes and sit down? We could talk about somethin. Now.

N-No, that is not true. [She smiles softly.

But, a part of her is worried about the way he seems to have changed his attitude. She wonders if she shouldn't have kept her peace about her talk that morning with Saori.

However, she doesn't let her smile falter as she goes to get the cupcakes and brings the entire tray to the table near the counter and sits across from him, hoping that someone does and doesn't enter the bakery.]

What would you like to discuss?

[ What indeed. As she steps away, he tries to think of what he wants to say, and what he wants to answer. Hell, what he feels, for that matter. Shiemi, Precis, Hinata... even Cloche, a little bit. He's had a lot of feelings and he's not sure what even are the most pressing ones on his mind. He frowns and his tail curls behind him while he ponders it. But when she's back, he tries to put on a straight face. Uh... No, he can do this ]

Well... [ Inhale ] Y'still... uh. Like me?

[The direct question leaves her a little startled. She's tried many times to figure out her feelings for both Rin and Naruto. And while she's unsure of a lot of things, she knows that she enjoys Rin's company and that when she looks at him, her heart begins to race and a blush settles on her cheeks.

Much like when she looks at Naruto as well.

And then there is the added benefit of knowing that she enjoys it when he kisses her as well.

The only thing she can say is the truth.]

Y-Yes, I still like you as more than a friend, Rin-kun.

I uh... [ Man why is he like this now? He frowns, and he looks at the cupcakes, as if wishing for the cupcakes to give an answer to him. In the end, he pushes past that, and- ] I just went home like earlier today, and I kinda got dumped there.

She nods silently to herself, not letting it show how much it hurts and she attempts another smile for him.]

[ No, no, no, that's not what he wanted. But of course that would be Hinata's reaction - she was letting him trample on her much too easily. And she wasn't even weak or anything, it's just a personality trait. He groans, and runs his hands through his hair. ]

[Patiently, she waits for him to finish what he's saying before attempting to make any sense of it. She understands that he was merely trying to keep from forcing himself on her after the shift that affected their minds and brought them together in the first place.

It's...touching, in a way. But he's right that it was rude of him to assume he understood her feelings as anything other than what she said they were.]

Rin-kun...I do remember the Shift where...where we kissed the first time. However, if you remember correctly, that was not the first time we met.

[She remembers that very clearly. The speed dating thing where she'd met many new people, some gone now, some not.]

Besides, it is okay to be confused after an experience like that. If you are still unsure, or if you are decided in another way, that is fine as well.

'Course it wasn't. I met you at that speed dating thingie, and when I did I remembered I'd seen you around before then. 'N lots of stuff happened before that time and after that time. [ He says this all ... to the cupcakes. Man he's not good at this. He's not good at this at all - and it's a complicated thing, because there's others forces at play. Did he describe all this before? Did he articulate this stuff before? He genuinely can't remember if he did or didn't, and that's even putting aside whatever it is that she might remember. [ Unless... she remembers things weird now, and they were going to prevent the war, right? Fair, fair, fair, fair. He keeps thinking about fair. It's pissing him off. And you know what, what she said there pisses him off too. He runs his hand furiously through his hair, and he raises his voice without really noticing that he has ] I guess so?! Probably! Yeah, it's a good idea!

[ He snarls, and one of his hands balls into a fist-- about when he realizes that he has, though, he shakes his head and- ]

-- Actually, no it's not! That's stupid! [ And he inhales, exhales, and he's not even thinking through through at all as he clarifies- ]

Because I like you too! I'm not sure how strong it is or anything, but I've always liked you and I'm sick of being stuck about what to do with it!

[She was resolved to live her life in Luceti with dealing with a situation like she has with Naruto for so many years.

However, his violent reaction makes her jump, her eyes wide as she listens to him talk. When he's done, she opens her mouth to talk but has nothing to say to that.]

W-what do you want to do?

[Her face is as red as it can get and she's hiding in her hair as much as she can, but a part of her is so pleased, so very happy.]

I...! I... didn't think that far.

[ Wow he lost the mojo. He sighs, slumping forward a little. And then he takes one of the cupcakes, finally, because they're probably cool by now. He frowns at it. Stupid cupcake. Uhm. Uhm... ]

I mean... I guess datin' doesn't always need to be this big forever thing or nothing.

[She watches him glare at the poor cupcake through her hair, amused. A slight giggle escapes from her as she looks up at his face.]

N-No, it does not have to be complicated or long-lasting.

[She feels as tired as she would be if she'd been training all day, but she can't imagine how she could be happier in that instance.]
