The cupcake? [She looks him in the face, their eyes locking momentarily.] If...If you don't like, I can make you something else?

Oh, did I ... I guess I didn't notice I took a bite if I did. [ Sheepishly. Either way, he just takes a second one altogether, and he makes to take a bite. He chews on it for a long while, moving it around his mouth, appraising it... ]

--No, it's good. It's really good.

[She flushes with pride and happiness as he praises her baking.]

I am very glad to hear that. This is the first time I have baked them. I was worried that they would not be good enough.

[She looks down at her hands for a minute before she speaks again, a little uncertain as to his response. He has shown himself full of surprises, of course.]

A-ah, would you...would you like to join me for dinner tonight? Or do you work?

First time, huh... [ Admittedly, he could notice one or two things which might need to be improved as he took a second bite. He'll have to tell her them later, chef to baker. He didn't question her work ethic, but that would ultimately be more helpful, right? He'll do it when he can do it without being awkward--

wait, tonight- ] Uh, I was gonna be working. After all, no one's put in shifts in a while.

[ ... ] But I still gotta eat, you know.

I had heard that getting people to show up for work as of late has been difficult. The clinic and bakery have become shorthand, sadly.

[Her heard races a little as he says that but she knows that if she doesn't finish this now, she never will.]

Then, perhaps you would like to come over to my sister's house for dinner tonight? Or...I could come and help out.

Actually, we managed to get a new bartender today. [ And a random new worker with memories which aren't right. ... Kinda like hinata, actually. But he pales a little at the sister's house and- ]

I... I don't wanna make you work or nothing, but we could do something there. That's not bad, right?

You would not be making me work if I volunteer to assist. But if you would rather not, I can come to visit you as well.

[Because that's what...girlfriends do, right?]

If you're volunteering, I'm not gonna refuse you, though. [ They could always use more skilled help. And he does trust her to be skilled, and he smiles at her to show it ]

I would be more than happy to help if you are in need of assistance, Rin-kun.

[Her smile brightens at the thought of both being able to be useful and spending time with him. It's like the best of both worlds for her.]

What time should I be there?

Probably 'round five then you can work a bit and we'll have dinner on our break. [ ... This is the lamest date ever. But from what he knows of her, he's pretty sure she would like it. Is it really even a date? Oh well, it's better than him fretting over going to her sister's place ]

You think you can do better with helping me cook stuff or serving?

That sounds fine with me.

[Rin, honestly, you are overthinking this. Hinata is content if she gets to spend time with you. Haven't you figured that out yet?

By the way, Saori likes you. Stop worrying.]

I-I do not think that I would be a very good server. [She might be more confident, but she hasn't reached that level of confidence.]

You don't? I'm pretty sure that you could do it?

[She blinks, surprised that he would say that.

Well yeah. I mean you're smart, and you got a good memory for stuff. Plus you're a ninja so that means you gotta be strong and have a good sense of balance.

[ He leans one arm on the counter here, resting his head on it as he looks at her ] Iunno, wherever you can think you'll do the best work. Right now we're understaffed at both ends.

[ And work is Serious Business ]

[She hadn't thought about it like that. She does use her physical skills and ninjutsu subconsciously now to do things. It's not quite as powerful as it would be back at home, but that doesn't really concern her either. She can defend herself should the need arises. That's all that matters in the long run.]

I...I would like to do either. I would probably still be better at cooking, but if you truly need a server, I can help there too.

[You've convinced her, Rin. Good for you.]

[ Hehehe. ] Nah, nah! If you're confident in your cooking skills, it'd be great to have you in the back with me!

[ But... then he admires, a little bit sheepishy... ] I guess I kinda wanted to see you in the server's uniform...

Uh... r-really? I did not realize that the female serving uniform was any different from the male?

[Is it obscene? She doesn't eat out much. For obvious reasons.]

No, it's pretty much the same. There's a skirt option if they want though.

[ ... ] I figured you'd look cute in it s'all.

Oh, I did not know that that was an option.

[She blushes at his comment a bit, not sure how to handle it.]
