[So Sanji went home over a week ago. Honestly, Seventh Heaven’s been struggling to stay open since and he been conspicuously closed in the mornings where it hadn’t been before since then that time. You see, while there is a part time chef (Spock) and four members of the serving staff left, there is only one full time chef and at least one of the serving staff members isn’t coming in.

Oh, and there’s also a robot. Specifically mecha Sanji. It’s been picking up the cooking slack some, but for all of its frankly impressive robotics, it still can’t really think for itself or do much more than copy stuff it’s already seen prepared. ...Well and shoot lasers, but you know, robot. That is, until Pascal came in sometime yesterday and gave him some programming to "help" out at the place.

Or rather, to get more help. Which is way, sometime in the the afternoon today the robot steals Rin’s journal when the boy isn’t paying attention to make the following voice entry-]

[This post begins with a hideous mechanical thing coming onto the picture, and beginning in a mechanical voice-]

My name is Sanji. We need more shitty workers at Seventh Heaven. Would you like to-

[And then there’s a sound of surprise as Rin comes into the room and exclaims-]

What the hell’re you-! [WAIT ISN’T THAT HIS JOURNAL HAS THE ROBOT GONE ROGUE? Pascal warned him about this!!]

Hydrozz-- aalo nii-san! No, Hydra- Oh come on! [And at this point Rin gives up and goes to tackle the robot, because he turned his face back to the journal to continue his speil. And he seems to struggle with the robot for a bit, including an explosion before a shout of of-] Tell me you damn shut down phrase already!

Hydroxylammonium nitrate-- [And then a buzzing sound before, upon hearing the word, the robot shuts down. Rin sighs in relief and goes to pick up the book himself-]

S...sorry ‘bout that, everyone. [A beat] ...But the thing kinda has a point. We’re short handed, and while we don’t have a new boss or nothing, or even a head chef, if anyone’s willing to help us out however you think you can, could you stop by Seventh Heaven? I’m Rin, by the way, so I guess me and whoever else is here’ll be talkin’ to you.

[Because he wouldn’t want to pull a fast one on Miyabi or the others or anything. He’s really got no authority to do this in the first place...

And for the action portion, true to his word, Rin will be at Seventh Heaven all day. For once, he isn’t in the back cooking, so you might not be able to get a meal, but that’s because he’s manning the fort for anyone who might willing to help out here. [He gives Rin a small smile and a nod, then motions for him to sit again.]

Please, you needn't be so formal. [Not that Japan will listen to his own advice.] It is good to see you again, Rin-kun. Shall we discuss the test?

Yeah- don't worry, it's something simple, so I guess it's kinda just a formality. [And he waves now, for Japan to follow him into the kitchen. As they walk, he explains] The Boss, when I wanted to work here, just had me cook one thing of my choice and he tried it, and since he liked it, I got the job. Same sort of thing here, okay?

[Then it would be prudent to know of the taste-tester's likes and dislikes. HM.THIS IS A GOOD THING THEN.

Japan nods and follows Rin into the kitchen. It's so nice to see such a well stocked kitchen!!!]

Do you perhaps have a nabe pot then?

Yeah, we do. [The kitchen is big and well stocked. Plus he's used it before. He even goes to get it for him in the pot storage thing]

[Excellent. Japan starts getting the ingredients ready while Rin goes to get the pot. He searches the cabinets for sugar and then pulls the soy sauce and cooking sake and mirin from his backpack. He unwraps his own cooking kit - a set of sharpened knives and a pair of long cooking chopsticks and rinses them in the sink, drying them off and setting them by the side.

Japanese hospitality is something he can do and do quite well, so LET'S DO THIS THING. Time to make his special sukiyaki!!!]

Is there thinly sliced beef available?

'Course! [Once he's got the pot over there, he answers this, grinning - because he's starting to have some awareness of what the guy's doing. And Rin would help more, but he instead just points to meat storage. There might not be pre-thin-sliced per se (but there could be, he can't remember) but there is at least applicable beef in there]

[That's okay. He is totally cool with slicing his own beef and that is exactly what he does. He pulls out a side of beef, checks it over, gets a different one, then takes that one to the cutting board and starts cutting thin slices of marbled beef. He sets each one aside, folding it carefully to keep the meat from turning due to exposure to the air.]

If Rin-kun would like to relax, I should have the dish ready within 30 minutes.

Ossu! Then I'll just be up front!

[And, he's willing to leave the guy out that, ollie out of the kitchen, and head up front to see if there's going to be more people or not. Seems fair]
