[So after running into Izumo and getting properly dressed, Rin sets out to complete his sweep for Kurikara in the item shop before heading back "home" to House 15. Possibly with Izumo he goes back there but maybe not. Either way, he ends up going there in the relatively early morning. Run into him en route, while he's looking for Kurikara, or when he's there.]

I'm apart from Yukio. I know I upset a lot of you. He bites his lip and then shakes his head. No, he's not saying any of that]

Pity it's too cold, h-huh? I wanted to go swimming in this pool, now it's kinda too cold for it...

She still got you though.

And that's why she hasn't died due dehydration from crying in a corner for days.

It doesn't matter much that she still got me, she still lost you and Kotomi doesn't deal well with losing her dear friends.

What, you can't just comfort her or something?!

[There's a pause as he thinks but at the end he decides to be direct. He has always worked better with being blunt after all.]

Your brother was sent back and it doesn't sound as if he has returned with you. Can anyone in this place comfort you about it enough so that you stop missing him?

I'm her boyfriend, you're one of her dear friends. The only comfort I can give her in that regards is that I won't leave her side, but that doesn't make the fact that you left any less painful or less real for any of us.

That ain't the same thing! [He snaps that, without thinking. "Dear Friend?" What's that even mean, he's not nearly as close to her or anyone here as he is the cram school, right? And Yukio is his brother. His twin. His only family. He doesn't like to play up his own tragedy, but right now he's actually a little overwhelmed by the reality of being apart from him again]

I didn't just... [His voice doesn't have bite now. If anything, his moroseness overwhelms him now]

[Ikki doesn't mind the snap, he expected it, after all it was a low blow and he himself would have snapped at anyone throwing that at him. Specially when it's so recent. He's not going to apologize though.]

I know it's not the same thing, but for Kotomi it is the same thing. That kid hasn't had it easy back at her world to make many friends until recently, when she was a kid she barely knew about a world outside of her home, much less about other kids, she only had her parents who were often outside home and her books. In this place she has been meeting many people, people that talk to her and don't bully her, who are willing to be "friends" with her or at least to keep talking to her and be nice to her.

[He pauses and growls. Only for Kotomi he would bother to talk this much about this.]

I know that for the rest of us that isn't a lot and we wouldn't call someone a friend just because of that, but for her? It means a lot, it means that you're her "dear friend" and she treasures you as something unique in the world that can't be replaced or forgotten no matter what. And when she loses on e of those friends she has found here, it just breaks her heart, believe it or not an d there's little comfort that she can be given then.

Don't call your girlfriend "that kid," man. It's awkward.

[It's not about apologizing for being gone, Ikki understands some don't want to be here, he doesn't want to be here but now at least he has Kotomi to give him a reason to not mind be here.]

She's a kid in many ways, though. And she's my woman, I'll call her whatever I want.

[Light and short chuckle, he said it without thinking actually.]

How do you get to that train of thought just from a random comment? If I had called her "sweetheart" would you be thinking I like to decorate things with pink hearts with lace border?

No, because "sweetheart" is totally normal. There's all sorts of normal things to call your girlfriend, and "kid" just seems weird.

[Ikki just shrugs to himself.]

[He mentally notes that calling Kotomi "kid" is a bad idea, but it's questionable if that will serve for anything at all.]

Just talk to her, tell her that you leaving isn't about you hating her or anything like that. Or something like that, she needs it.
