He was of course expecting it - he just hadn't known when, and Rin's abruptness leaves him with no time to properly dodge. While he manages to duck to the side a little, the punch catches him on the side of the jaw anyway. He stumbles back a few steps, one hand quick to cradle the area that will soon be very bruised.]

[Rin is mildly surprised Mithos wasn't knocked off his feet. Scrawny kid like that? Maybe he held back too much. Oh well, he grunts and shakes out his fist] There! We're even, you jackass.

[And he turns to walk away. his tail flicking behind him! Humph!]

[JESUS CHRIST OWW THIS HURTS LIKE A SISTERFUCKER hey wait where do you think you're going. He's still holding the side of his face.] How simple are you? How does this make us even?

[In his books, nothing that has begun can ever end, and nothing breaks evenly.]

You're a dick, and I punished you for it. That's even? What, you want more or something?

[He groans, turning around again. More annoyed than angry at this point, but still angry.]

[He probably should have let him go, but he's annoyed and upset and constantly just inches away from some kind of implosion. He holds his ground, except he doesn't know what that ground is exactly.]

No, why would I? [...Yeah, definitely should have just let him go.]

Then what's the problem? [Seriously :I Snarling and sort of tail flicking]

...Tell me what you are. [Unrelated, but he can't help be curious in regard to the non-human.]

[You were the one trying to make it even. You wanted to punch him, and you did; he wanted to know what you are, so he asked. Except now that he knows, he isn't any more sure of what to think. Demons are invariably not very good news.]

What do you mean "sort of"?

I mean I didn't know 'til I was fifteen. Raised by a human priest and all. [He shrugs] Plus I usually got it sealed up.

[This information is less relevant to his interests than he had anticipated. He continues to be wary more than anything.] So you are a demon, you were just ignorant of it for so long. [How nice that would be...]

Who're you calling ignorant?! [JABBING his finger into his chest]

[Glancing down at that jabby finger in distaste, then back to Rin's face with the same distaste. He takes a step back.]

You admitted yourself that you didn't know. Or has the meaning of ignorance changed? [Maybe a dash of smugness too. He needs to grope for some dignity points after that punch to the face.]

I just didn't know then, it ain't like I'm some guy that doesn't know things!

[...Yeah he isn't totally clear on the definition of "ignorant"]

[.....Yeah. About that. Rin, you don't exactly match up with his idea of a demon. But he has the stinging reminder of that punch, so he'll back the hell off.]

...I'm done here. [He's gotten everything he can from this and sees no reason to spend another second speaking with him. He's turning to go, not really caring what Rin's response might be.]
