Where's Pilouette? [ But he knows. He suspects, at least. He didn't see her when he watched everyone come in. He was then reminded people died, and today that people are coming back. But still not her - he hasn't seen her and he doesn't know. He sounds somewhat lost, he sounds choked up. He half wants to just leave the journal behind and...

Precis... ] I want to- ... Wait, what was that!

[ And then it cuts off- ]

[ Action ]

[ Because his house just vanished. So did the pool There's just a grassy field with a tree in the middle of it. Shiemi was out somewhere and now it's just him and Skarmy, Shiemi's seven foot tall murderbird of steel. Her and Rin loo confused at each other. And then Skarmy squawks at him before making to fly off. Rin ends up flipping her the bird before going to collect Midori the turtle and go off to look all over down for where his house just vanished to ]

I haven't seen her come back yet.

[Rin's not the only one waiting. There's a first aid kit that belongs to Pilouette Ginia's been holding onto. By the time Ginia found Pilouette's body there was nothing to be done but take any personal belongings and move her body to somewhere safe.]

Everything okay?

[ Well, its written. So he doesn't see this for a while until he opens up the journal again maybe thirty minutes later. And then he sees that ... Oh. He frowns, of course he isn't. But-]

My house disappeared.

[There's another delay as Ginia goes about her day, finally checking back twenty minutes later.

...Damn. Granted, there have been odd appearances and disappearances since prior to the draft, but that's the first time she's heard of an entire house disappearing.]

Sorry to hear that. Any of it appear yet?

[ Which means he doesn't get to it until an hour later. because who reads????

The house's back now, but it's missing a lot of the furniture still.

Rin? {Come on, don't cut off like that...} What does Pilouette look like?

[ Oh, Lightning-- ] She's blonde and she's uh... I guess she's probably like ... maybe 156 centimeters tall. She's got a pretty round face...

[In just two words he feels queasy and unbalanced, a chill sweeping through him. And reeling, he backs up and sits himself down on the edge of his bed, the journal heavy as a rock in his numbed fingers.] I... I been lookin' for her too. [He swallows.]

Left her a message a couple days ago but she ain't answered yet.

[No, no -- Maybe she was mallynapped.]

Hasn't answered me neither.

[ ... He wonders if that's useless. He wonders if he was just annoying for doing it. He's not sure. ]

[It's when Caius is walking down the path towards the Flame Building from his own house that he spots Rin walking towards him. He squints at Midori, giving the turtle an odd look, before looking up a Rin with the same expression... And then he lets out a yawn. He didn't exactly have a good nights sleep and it's easy to tell by how his eyes look as though they're about to shut on him at any moment.

When he gets closer he gives Rin a wave.] Hey, where'd you find a real live turtle? ['Real live' as opposed to, say, a chocolate one.]

[His lips press thin and for a long moment he doesn't know what to say, an aching knot forming in his throat.]

If I see her... I'll letchya know.

Where've you been. I've had her for a while.

[ Except it's a boy turtle. He doesn't know how to tell ]

Good. Thanks, man.

[ Ugh. Guh guh ]

No prob'm. [He nods faintly, silent for a beat too long for it to be anything but awkward.] ...I'm Mac, by the way, an', uh... jus' so I know who I should be gettin' in touch with, can I get your name?

Rin. 'M Rin, and if I'm not answerin' my journal then I'll probably be at House 15 or Seventh Heaven.

[ Or school, he guesses... ]

[School - the one place Mac is guaranteed never to be found.]

Got it. Nice to meetchya, Rin. I jus'... I really hope she's okay.

[There's not a great many things the absence of a person could mean and fewer that are 'good', but it's all he can do to try and cling to an optimism he doesn't feel -- even if he hasn't decided what the best case scenario really is.]

Well you've never mentioned her before. [To him anyway. He thinks.] All I've seen when I've come over before is all the plants and Skarmy.

[ Nice education, Mac... ]

Yeah. [ There's no way she's okay. He knows it - there's a sinking feeling in his stomach, where he at least he knows she didn't come back from the draft. Or at least he didn't see her. So the absolute best is that she's avoiding him - too sick, injured, shifted, or emotionally charged - to move. Otherwise... she probably died. Or was kidnapped out of the draft. Both of those are awful ] 'M hoping she doesn't come back too screwed up.

There's also a fox who's around here sometimes named George, but I don't see him a lot.

[ SHRUG. With Midori in one hand, so it probably looks silly. Turtle flail ]

Huh, you have a lot more animals around than I thought. Emil would probably wanna come over if he knew about them all.

[What with his love of pokemon and animals and all. But anyway.]

Are you giving her some fresh air then or something? [Why are you waving a turtle around dude. Poor thing.]

...I hear ya. [He heaves a sigh.] That draft was hard enough on 'er. Nobody should have to go through somethin' like that.

[But so many were subjected to it as draftees and volunteers and it makes his stomach lurch to think of those his age and younger yet who found themselves trudging through a soupy mess of mud and gore and picking their way around corpses. He had broken out into a sweat and nearly thrown up at the memory when he caught the faintest whiff of a rotting fruit in the community kitchen upon his return from Zompania.]

When's the last time y'saw 'er?

No dude, this is where my house used to be! Come on, can't you tell that?!

[ In face, he points around the area with the hand that holds the turtle. Holds back. And then sets her down. She (well, he) begins to walk away ]

[ Rin's glad he's stupid, a little bit. Maybe that's why he's just not slept well, but hasn't... broken down. Not really. (he's oblivious to his own effects, oops)

But... ] Back there. Back... like on the second or third day.

[Damn. He had feared as much and is beginning to think that the only way he'll ever be able to piece together what happened in the cultist-raided building after he blacked out is by asking Pils herself. He's no stranger to nerve-wracking waiting games, having experienced dressing-room jitters a dozen times over and then some. But this has to be among the worst experiences yet.]

Oh.

[It's all he's able to say for a long moment.] ...Thanks anyway.

[Run Midori. Run and find a kind owner who won't wave you around like it's nothing.]

I can tell! [No he can't. Well, couldn't. He's half asleep and really didn't realise it until Rin pointed it out.] ... Wait, used to be? What happened?

[Guess who is slow on the uptake today. This guy.]

It vanished. And so did the pool.
